This cabochon of Sonora Sunrise has stunning colors and patterns. This material is a rarity in nature! A combination of the blue/green of Chrysocolla, the red Cuprite and the black of Tenorite. It creates an explosion of color for those statement pieces of jewelry. This gorgeous gemstone is call Sonora Sunset or Sonora Sunrise. The mostly red cabochons are called Crimson Cuprite. This material was mined in Sonora, Mexico. The mine opened in 2006 and is no longer available.

I have it set in a wire wrap bezel with raw copper wire that I oxidized in liver of sulpher and hand polished with renaissance wax.
