This cabochon of Petrified Wood has beautiful patterns. I have secured a silver bale. At one time blankets of rainforest surrounding volcanos were plentiful throughout Indonesia. After Volcanic eruptions these trees were buried by ash and lava eliminating any microbes that would rot the wood. The wood was replaced with silica rich minerals such as Chalcedony, Quarts, Calcite, Opal and Jasper. The Beautiful colors in the wood come from assorted trace elements. Traces of manganese create blue and black colors, while Iron would result in different shades of brown and orange. This Petrified wood is from Indonesia and is millions of years old.
