This cabochon contains mostly copper, so it is on the heavy side. It is wrapped in raw copper with a woven bale. I have protected it from tarnishing with a product exclusively for jewelry. Copper is one of the most famous and useful metals, and has been important since ancient civilizations for ornaments and coinage. Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula is the most important locality in the world for pure native copper.
